Supported Independent Living (SIL)

SIL is for people who live in a shared home and need help every day. This support can include help with things like showering, dressing, cooking, cleaning, or taking medication. The support is provided by staff, but the cost of rent and food is not included in SIL funding.

24/7 Support in a Safe, Shared Home Setting

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is designed for people with disability who live in shared homes and require ongoing assistance with daily life. At SilverLining Care Group, we provide compassionate, 24/7 support to help you live more independently, comfortably, and on your own terms.

Our dedicated team is always available—day and night—to support your daily routine, while promoting your independence, privacy, and personal choice in how you live.

SIL support may include:

  • Personal care such as showering, dressing, and grooming

  • Assistance with preparing meals and maintaining good nutrition

  • Help with daily household tasks like cleaning and laundry

  • Medication reminders and support with health management

  • Encouragement to build daily living skills

  • Support in developing routines and fostering positive relationships at home

While SIL funding covers the cost of support staff, it doesn’t include expenses like rent, groceries, or personal items. We work closely with you, your family, and support coordinators to find the right home environment and the right level of support—tailored to your goals and lifestyle.

With 24/7 care and a focus on your independence, SilverLining Care Group helps you feel safe, supported, and empowered to thrive in your home.

Understanding SIL Funding:

Under the NDIS, Supported Independent Living (SIL) is usually included within your Core Supports budget. It helps cover assistance with daily tasks in a shared living environment. Here’s a breakdown of how it works:

Who It’s For:

SIL is intended for individuals with significant support needs who require ongoing help throughout the day and possibly overnight.

How Funding Is Determined:

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) assesses your unique situation and care needs to decide the level of funding you’ll receive.

Setting Up Services:

Once your SIL is approved, your provider will work with the NDIS to establish a formal service booking. This includes a detailed schedule of the support you’ll receive each day.

Additional Help Available:

If you’re going through changes or need extra guidance, you may also qualify for support coordination to help manage and implement your NDIS plan.
